In March 2011 Mid-Atlantic
Automatic Door was subcontracted by Hill
Electric Co. of Atlantic City, New Jersey to
install an M2000 automatic operator in the
building manager's office in the Jefferies Tower
Housing Community in Atlantic City, NJ. A tie-in
with the existing card reader security system
was required and was simply done with the on
board controller in the M2000. With the M2000
installation the managers now have full
automatic access control of their office door.
|
In the Fall of 2010 Mid-AtlanticAutomatic
Door was subcontracted by Lopez Glass of
Springfield, VA to install a Detex M2000
operator in the West entrance of the George
Washington University Mall at 2000 Pennsylvania
Avenue in Washington, DC. The M2000 unit was
affordably custom coated to blend in with their
existing decor and renovation of the GWU Mall.
The optional (3) year complete warranty was also
selected. |

In February 2011 (4) Detex M2000-
A019 operators were installed in the men's and
women's restrooms for the National Epilepsy
Foundation offices in Landover, MD. The Epilepsy
Foundation elected to take advantage of the
optional (3) year complete warranty. |
In the Fall of 2010 Mid-Atlantic
Automatic Door entered into an annual purchase agreement
with the US OPM to supply a variety of Standard and
Custom sized Detex M2000 - A019 automatic swing
operators for their offices on E Street in Washington,
DC. In addition, US OPM management has elected to
standardize on the Detex M2000 - A019 units because of
their proven commitment to manufacturing their products
to the highest industry standards, their unmatched
warranty, their trouble free operation, and proven
reliability. |

Mid-Atlantic
Automatic Door was contracted recently by the
United States Geological Survey in Reston, VA to
install a Detex M2000/ A019 operator in the
facility as soon as possible. Within a week the
Detex operator was delivered and installed.
Management was particularly pleased with the
quiet operation of the unit, its multifunction
controls, and the (3) Year Manufacturer's
Warranty. |
A pair of Hunter
sliding entry doors were installed at the Mediterranean
Towers Fort in Lee, NJ and have been operating reliably
for over a year under extreme wind conditions. This
extreme is due to the 25 story tower's high stack
pressure wind from the inside, and the steady high winds
from the outside due to the building's elevated location
along the Hudson River. The residents have enjoyed the
hands free entry and exit because of the pair of Hunter
single sliding doors from their building since the
attended lobby and Hunter Sliders were added last year. |

Rockville Academy in Rockville,
MD recently installed an M2000/A029 LP/Detex
operator for the day school. The unit prently
ties in with the access control keypad to enable
parents and students easy access into the main
entry. Exiting couldn't be easier since the
Request to Exit Sensor detects the motion of
anyone walking within 10 feet of the door.
Parents and students alike are happy to have a
safe and secure automatic door opening and
closing the door for them. |
The newly
opened Old Tappan Library in Old Tappan, New
Jersey needed an economical and reliable
automatic door system for their new facility.
Head Librarian Susan Meeske contacted
Mid-Atlantic Automatic Door to provide an
estimate, and in a little over a month the board
approved and the door operators are installed
with a super-quiet power source. Even the tandem
door operators are whisper-quiet. |

The owners of The Bike Rack
located at 1412 Q St Washington, DC are very
customer service oriented. So to facilitate
entry and exiting the shop's red door for their
customers with bicycles the proprietors Wayne
and Chuck selected Mid-Atlantic Automatic Door
to install a Detex A019 commercial automatic
operator. The installation was somewhat unusual
because the swing arm needed to be modified by
our fabricators at Inter-Coastal machine shop to
accommodate and not interfere with the Overhead
Security Door tracks. The Bike Rack is the best
bicycle shop in the city of Washington and
offers some of the highest quality bicycles on
the market. It also has the best customer
service too. We at Mid-Atlantic Automatic Door
understand and appreciate that kind of approach
to business. |
Upstairs at Bethesda Row located
on Arlington Ave in Bethesda, MD desired to
automate their all glass securitized entry and
vestibule doors. Management with the
recommendation of Datawatch Upstairs' access
security provider selected Mid-Atlantic
Automatic Door. With the support of our
installation support partners we installed two
Detex M2000 / A019 operators inside of Upstairs'
all glass entry and vestibule area.
This project was not a typical installation.
Upstairs' heavy 5/8" thick all glass doors
proved to have unusual installation challenges
due to the obstruction posed by the lobby door's
existing security components. With the support
and rapid response of our partner Intercoastal
Fabricators who quickly modified the Detex
operator's connecting swing pull arm assembly to
clear these security components obstruction
enabling connection to the lobby door.
In addition, because the main entry's concealed
door frame lacked the usual secure attachment
points for a surface applied unit, a custom
manufactured mounting bracket was fabricated and
integrated into the vestibule to securely mount
the Detex push operator on the main entry door.
Once again with the aid of Intercoastal's
fabrication expertise Mid-Atlantic Automatic
Door was able to provide Upstairs at Bethesda
Row with reliable, controlled, and safe
automatic operation of these entry doors for
many years to come. |

In June, 2009 Foster's Grille,
located in Winchester, VA, franchise owner
Elizabeth Wright took advantage of an ADA Tax
Credit to offset the total cost of her Handicap
Access project by 50% including installation.
Elizabeth elected to have us install a standard
Detex M2000 automatic swing door
operator with push button activation. Elizabeth
opted for our
Optional Surge
Protection Package which provides her with a
full
(3) year warranty
on the mechanical and electrical components
combined. In addition, her main entry now opens
and closes in a more controlled and customer
friendly manor. Since the installation of the
automatic door operator Mrs. Wright has received
several compliments and recommendations from her
non-handicapped and handicapped patrons. (It
certainly helps that the food served is very
tasty too.)
|
This recent project was completed
in the Fall of 2010. The Township of Roxbury, NJ
automated the main entry and lobby doors of the
township offices. Because this entry is sees
heavy use, the board opted to use the L/P Detex
M2000 operators with the optional (3) year
warranty. The Mayor's requirement was many
trouble free years of continuous operation. We
are confident he will be satisfied with the long
term performance of our product and
installation. |

This recent 2011project at the
historic New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in
Washington, DC involved installation of two
modified Twin LP/Detex operators to automate
their Sanctuary vestibule doors and make them
handicapped accessible. In order to keep the
integrity of church Sanctuary free of equipment
the units were both located out of sight in the
Sanctuary Vestibule. In addition, the original
historic church was renovated from 1949 to 1950
with non standard sized doors therefore the
modifications involved; shortening a standard
LP/Detex 75.5" Twin Push and Pull M2000 header
down to 64" wide. Another custom modification to
the other Pull unit involved shortening a Pull
arm, by our machinists at Inter Coastal
Fabricators in short order, to accommodate an
unusual wall angle in the Sanctuary vestibule.
The board and the congregation are completely
satisfied with the quiet operation and the
programmed extended cycle time of the units that
give all families with carriages, elderly, and
handicapped congregants ample time to navigate
through the Sanctuary vestibule doors after
Sunday services.

In December 2010 the National
Defense University in Fort McNair in Washington,
DC contacted Mid-Atlantic Automatic Door to make
Lincoln Hall completely ADA compliant. To make
it possible a cost effective LP/Detex A019 Pull
operator was installed with RF pushbuttons. The
positive pressure in the building was so strong
that the Power Close and Seal features were
utilized to fully close the door as it
transitioned from closing to latching. The Seal
feature keeps it closed when not in use.

This March
2008 in Alexandria, VA the D. family knew that
when Mr. D returned from the hospital with one
or both of his hips replaced, he would need a
simplified way to get in and out of the home.
Mrs. D elected to have Mid-Atlantic Automatic
Door. erect and install a PVI Modular ramp to
ensure their easy access in and out of their
home. As is evident by this photograph the PVI
Modular Ramp System is solidly constructed
with stable aluminum components and is also
attractively designed. These modular systems are
available in a variety of configurations to
accommodate most residential entries. Oh
and by the way, Sam their dog likes it a
lot too! |
This PVI
Modular Aluminum Ramp was completed in December
2008 for the Harford County Maryland Habitat for
Humanity. Their client Mrs. W. was extremely
pleased to have this PVI aluminum ramp assembled
for her in just two days. With her new ramp in
place she is now able to safely and easily to
get from her house to her car to drive to
physical therapy or run errands.

This project
completed in August 2008 involved fabricating
two 15.2' PVI access ramps connected to a 4'x 4'
transition landing. Working with Habitat for
Humanity of Harford County MD, Mr. Otto M. was
the recipient of this attractive, safe, low
maintenance modular ramp system. Because
of a team effort between the HFH and
Mid-Atlantic Automatic Door. Since Otto's leg
amputation earlier this year, and with the
assembly of this ramp he now has the ability to
come and go as he pleases. Habitat for Humanity
was extremely pleased with the high quality, low
maintenance, attractive design, and safety
features they are considering using PVI modular
aluminum ramp projects with MAAD instead of
permanent wooden constructed high maintenance
ramps. |
In June 2010 Scientific Social
Services in Silver Spring, MD needed to automate
a securitized 9th floor glass office entry door
for a handicapped employee. Working with Social
Scientific Service's security firm Datawatch
Security; Mid-Atlantic Automatic Door installed
a Detex M2000 operator that opens with
Datawatch's security card swipe reader and a
Push-to-Exit button. Now all of the employees
benefit from the automatic door operator opening
the office door for them. |

Gates
Hudson Associates the property Management firm
that manages the Arlington Gateway Building on
N. Glebe Rd in Arlington, VA wanted to make
their subterranean parking garage building entry
doors handicap accessible. After consulting with
Mid-Atlantic Automatic Door about the best fit
for their application, a Detex pull
operator was fitted on Level One's building
access door located directly across from the
designated handicapped parking. The plan calls
for 2-3 more for the other lower parking level
lobbies in early 2010. By then Gates Hudson will
have enjoyed a year of trouble free service from
their Detex operator. |
The project
above involved installing a commercial Handy
Ramp at City Vista condominiums in Washington,
DC in September of 2008. The commercial ramp
provided the new tenants with the ability to
easily move furniture and appliances from the
ground level to the main service elevator
level. The ramp quickly and assembles and easily
mounts to the service landing with
pins. Commercial Handy Ramps are capable of
supporting 750lbs of loaded weight. When not in
use the disassembled commercial Handy ramp
easily stores out of the way under the service
landing. |

This recent project for Meisel
Capital Partners in Columbia, MD was completed
in late October 2009. The project consisted of
installing two Detex M2000 push operators
on the main entry door (pictured) and the lobby
door. Because these doors were rather heavy to
push open manually, the M2000's Push-and-Go
option was used to facilitate manual opening for
everyone. MCP opted for the complete (3) year
warranty option by allowing our electrical
subcontractor, Blankenship Electric, to install
a Leviton 5280 surge protected outlet inside the
M2000 to protect even the electronic controls
for three full years. |
This recent project done in December 2009 in
downtown Wilmington, Delaware for 1 Commerce
Center involved installing (2) custom sized
Detex M2000 operators. Due to the
building's older glass and aluminum door
framing, the installations required swing arm
modifications by our local machine shop. One
unit was mounted above the main entry, the other
unit was installed inside the building's
vestibule and lobby. Automatic access into the
building is gained with hard wired push buttons.
Automatic egress from the building is performed
by activating hard wired push buttons as well.
The building tenants especially like the
Push/Pull-and-Go feature that automatically
assists them when opening the heavy glass doors
manually. Management preferred the optional (3)
Year Complete Warranty by simply having their
electrician install a Leviton 5280 surge
protected duplex outlet in each unit.

This recent installation at Springwell Assisted
Living located in North Baltimore, Maryland
involved installing a standard Detex
M2000 swing door operator in the new Alzheimer's
wing. Limited access /egress from the wing is
accomplished by using an electromagnetic
security lock. Activation is initiated by an
authorized fob and proximity reader which
signals the M2000 unit to begin its brief
automatically timed open/close sequence. |
This recent project for 2800 Stone Cliff
Condominium Association in West Baltimore, MD
involved installing a Detex M2000 pull operator
onto the garage door for residents to facilitate
entry into the elevator lobby. The unit
optimizes the Push/Pull-and-Go feature to allow
facilitated entry for all walking pedestrians.
In addition a handicapped push button enables
operation in the fully automatic mode. The Condo
Association took advantage of the optional (3)
Year Full Warranty on the M2000 operator with
electrical surge protection. |

In April 2010 Elizabeth Lillie the Director of
the Monroe Public Library in Williamstown, NJ
contacted Mid-Atlantic to install an automatic
door for their brand new library. They elected
to purchase the LP/Detex M2000 120VAC operator.
With the Push-and-go feature utilized the door
opens automatically even when pushed by hand.
This feature by necessity has a much shorter
cycle time compared to when the door is
activated with either of the push buttons. The
library staff is relieved to have the new
automatic door operator since they no longer
must leave the check out desk unattended in
order to assist a handicapped patron. |
Foxhall Condominiums on Massachusetts Ave NW in
Washington, DC decided to automate several of
the entry/exit doors for their older tenants
using canes, walkers, and scooters. Their
solution involved automating (4) securitized
garage doors and (2) main entry and lobby glass
doors using all LP/Detex swing M2000 operators.
This project involved coordinating services with
several their vendors including; Lopez Glass,
Stanley/Safemasters Security, and Mona Electric.
The multi-day project now enables the Foxhall
tenants to continue to use their security key
fobs for automatic entry into the building
through any of the garage doors. A PIR (REX exit
Sensor) detects them as they exit through the
elevator lobby and automatically opens and
closes the door for them on their way out. The
Foxhall's main entry and lobby doors have
individual push button activation for personal
automatic entry and exit. Foxhall's full-time
doormen appreciate the main entry and lobby
doors automatic Push-and-Go feature to
automatically open and briefly hold each door
for a tenant. This feature enables the doorman
to have a waiting car or limousine's door
already open well in advance of the tenant's
arrival to the vehicle. |

In June 2010 The Intercontinental Harbor Hotel
in Baltimore, MD and located on the waterfront
at Baltimore's Inner Harbor requested that
Mid-Atlantic Automatic Door install a L/P Detex
M2000 Pull Operator for them on the doors that
lead from the kitchen to the banquet and
conference rooms. The food service personnel are
very happy to have the door open automatically
for them as they approach to reduce the number
of mishaps they were experiencing while
attempting to negotiate the open-in doors with
heavy hand held trays . Management's reasoning
was simple; they expect to reduce the high cost
of losses of food, and expensive tableware while
improving upon their food service level. IHG
anticipates a rapid return on their investment. |
The US State Department's Federal Credit unions
were in need of automated entries for three
facilities located in Fort McNair in the
District; Arlington, VA; and Alexandria, VA
(pictured). Subcontracted to perform the
installations of Detex M2000 swing door
operators, Mid-Atlantic Automatic Door conducted
installations in the three consecutive months of
the summer of 2010 as requested. Now these
Federal Credit Union locations are ADA
compliant. |

In the summer of 2010 Mid-Atlantic Automatic
Door was sub-contracted by A&M Glass to automate
(2) original base buildings 446 & 447 on the
PNAS for the US Navy. Each building received a
new Heavy Duty steel main entry door. The
project involved installing Detex M2000
operators on those HD doors and existing
vestibule doors. The units are activated by a
Sedco RF vestibule split button push button
packages. |
A Hanger prosthetics & orthopedics branch
located in Salisbury, MD recently had
Mid-Atlantic Automatic Door install a standard
Detex M2000 push operator to their branch
office's main entry door. The unit mounting and
connection to the door was anything but
standard, however. Due to the overhead space
limitations and the extended frame depth, the
M2000 operator was to mounted 10 inches away
from the door frame onto a header wall.
Connection to the entry door and the gear motor
shaft was accomplished by modifying a heavy duty
swing arm in the shape of an three inch tall "Z"
by our machinists at Intercoastal Fabricators.
In addition, an extra long connector rod was
also utilized to complete the connection to
enable safe, reliable, and consistent operation
with the push of a button. |
